How come many patients with clinical eds diagnoses do not test positive yet have vascular issues?

Dr. James Marx
Pain Management 48 years experience
No simple test: Eds in one form (vascular eds) can cause weakness of the blood vessels. If the vessel ruptures seriousl consequences can occur. Eds causes a weakness or loss of elasticity which can lead to stretching, ballooning out and eventual rupture. Probably easiest way to diagnose is with ultrasound or ct with contrast.

How do people inherit ehlers-danlos syndrome, vascular type?

2 doctor answers2 doctors weighed in
Dr. Bennett Werner
Cardiology 44 years experience
Not well known: The inheritance pattern is variable. In the more common eds type3 (hypermobility type), the inheritance is autosomal dominant meaning 50% of offspring would be expected to have it. Rarer forms like the vascular type is less predictable. If you have a parent who died of aortic dissection, you should be checked yourself with an echocardiogram.

I have headache in my head what I have to do?

Dr. Keegan Duchicela
Family Medicine 14 years experience
Cause of headache: The best way to tackle a headache is to figure out what's causing it in the first place - is it a migraine, from not eating breakfast this am, from skipping a dose of a medicine, from not getting enough sleep? There can be many reasons. For the run of the mill dull headache, i usually like to try some Ibuprofen and/or tylenol (acetaminophen) first and see how it feels after an hour or so.

Why does the LH surge stimulating ovulation cause fatigue, headache and acheyness ? What can one do to eleviate those symtoms?

1 doctor answer2 doctors weighed in
Dr. Annette Fineberg
Obstetrics and Gynecology 29 years experience
Hormones: When you have your lh surge, your estrogen level is high and your ovary has a small cyst that is about to burst (ovulate.) moderate exercise such as a brisk walk or swim is probably helpful. Tylenol (acetaminophen) would also be a reasonable and safe.
