Below average growth: Generally speaking, children grow a little over 2 inches per year from age 2 years onwards till the pubertal spurt. There are specific growth velocity charts. Statistically, significant slow height growth would be less than 2 SD below average for age and gender. The most important thing to consider is getting accurate serial height measurement with an interval of one year (or at least 6 months).
