Do you think subliminal recordings can help with anxiety?

5 doctors weighed in across 3 answers

Subliminal unlikely: Many treatments help anxiety: lifestyle changes, cognitive-behavioral therapy & medications. Your doctor can help you monitor changes in symptoms while you target the anxiety with behaviors (e.g., exercise, mindfulness, meditation, reducing alcohol, gaining social support) and explore therapy. Checklists help measure the response to treatments. Try the subliminal tapes if u like, unlikely 2 help.

Probably not: Listening to positive messages may be helpful but there is probably little benefit from subliminal messages. Subliminal comes from the roots sub, meaning below & limen, meaning the threshold of perception. How can we be influenced by messages that are presented below our ability to perceive them? Not to be confused w/ the influence of messages that are marginally perceivable.

Power of suggestion: You might be interested phenomenon of "priming" in cognitive psychology. Primes r cues that we're not aware of noticing but which still influence our attitudes &behavior. We perceive them at a subconscious level.
