A member asked:

Why can't i eat a grapefruit with my rx of diazepam? the pharmacist want available at the time.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Grapefruit+diazepam: Grapefruit interacts with enzymes in the intestines to make it easier for many medications, including diazepam, to get into the bloodstream. This may cause higher than normal blood levels of a med which could pose a medical risk. Grapefruit may block absorption of other medications causing lower than normal blood levels. See: http://tinyurl.com/zvd5sxc I hope this helps. Take care.
