Not really: If you need your periods regularized, it is actually good for you. It will cut your ovarian cancer risk substantially. The risk of pulmonary embolism is small if you are screened for being at extra risk. Some nuns take the pill for its overall health benefits. Best wishes.

Risk with pill: There are risks involved with taking birth control pills, like increased risk for breast cancer and cervical cancer, and developing blood clots. There are also risks involved with driving or riding in a car or engaging in leisure activities (mountain climbing, kayaking, sailing). It depends on each individual what risk level they are comfortable with.
