Confirm source: The first step is to confirm that you are seeing vaginal bleeding and not rectal bleeding. Your doctor can do a rectal exam to evaluate. When you have a bowel movement you “push” which is called a valsalva. If there is blood present in the vagina it would be pushed outward.
