Birth control: Birth control pills help regulate your period. Once you stop taking them your period will restart so the effect is not permanent. If you are trying to avoid having periods your doctor can prescribe birth control in particular ways to help you avoid bleeding. A Mirena (levonorgestrel) IUD is another great birth control method that often stops the menstrual cycle while you are on it.
