Keep follow up: It sounds like you are already seeing a doctor and that the work up for missed periods is in progress. It will be important to keep your follow up appointment so that the work up can be continued. Polycystic ovarian syndrome is a common cause of menstrual irregularity. You can ask about that. Birth control pills is often used to regulate cycles in this very common circumstance

Need more info: You need to get a broader workup including estrogen/ progesterone levels, and see a gyne-endocrine specialist, amenorrhea after being on the pill is not uncommon for a few cycles, but 6 months seems like too long
