Don't worry: A 5-day course of Medrol (methylprednisolone) for an otherwise healthy person has no discernable effects on the immune system. In fact, Medrol (methylprednisolone) used to be prescribed routinely for shingles to reduce the post-herpetic pain.

If you need it: Despite pop wisdom, shingles seldom really warns of immunodeficiency that could be seriously exacerbated by a short course of glucocorticoids
