? hip impingement: Hip impingement can cause symptoms from teen years through middle age. In addition to pain after sitting, walking uphill can aggravate. Radiation to back, thigh or buttocks is not uncommon. Imaging with x-rays and MRI can make the diagnosis. An x-ray can reveal excess bone on the femoral head/neck and acetabular rim. An MRI can show fraying/tears of cartilage/labrum. See orthopedist or PCP
