A member asked:

I was told i have no iron and all my iron reserves are gone what does this mean? how dangerous is this? i am also 34 weeks pregnant

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Iron reserves: Our red blood cells hold iron within hemoglobin, and our spleen recycles the iron as old red blood cells are degraded. Being pregnant causes an increase in overall blood volume which creates a "functional anemia". Follow your OBGYN's advice about your iron stores.
