Evaluate kidneys: A creatinine of 2.6 is a little above normal and probably means that the kidneys are not working normally. Before you start treating him you should find the cause of the problem. You should ask his doctor to do further testing, which may include blood and urine tests and x-ray studies. Keep trying, Dr. Long

Vegan diet best: A creatinine of 2.6 likely represents moderate chronic kidney disease if it has been elevated for at least 3 months. However the GFR is a more accurate measurement. Medications can affect kidney function. The only diet shown to stop progression of kidney disease is a vegan diet.
