a few possibilities: Several possibilities - you may have an oral infection from a tooth or salivary gland, pharyngitis, TMJ flareup, a denture sore or even a local irritation from something scratchy you ate. Sounds soft tissue related.

TMJ - Jaw hurt: You appear to have a tmj/muscle dysfunction problem that is treated by a dentist. Select a dentist that routinely treats TMJ with functional orthopedic type appliances. Many dentist treat tmj, however only about 5% are really good at it.
