Anemia: If a woman's menstrual blood loss makes her anemic and/or effects her quality of life, then she may want to try birth control pills or medroxyprogesterone acetate shots. Birth control pills have been shown to make women's periods shorter and lighter, and MPA every 12 weeks stops women having menstrual periods altogether. Anemia can be determined by a single or serial simple blood tests.
