It can be: Autonomic neuropathy has many causes, including diabetes. Cancer would be the most unusual cause. Rarely autonomic neuropathy can be the first sign of cancer like small cell lung cancer. There is no way to tell when the tumor will appear, but most patients have anti-Hu antibodies on a blood test. If your doctor has ruled out every other cause, it might make sense to do that blood test.
