Usually not: These viral illnesses generate immunity to the strain involved which accounts for the period of recovery. They don't bounce around like a strep throat (bacterial). If the kid has become sickly after a period of recovery it is most often due to a separate and often bacterial complication like bronchitis or pneumonia.
