Just BP?: 37 M from US asks if Dr can postpone endoscopy under general anesthesia in 71 pt with BP 170/70 because of "JUST BP". ANS: It is never "just BP". This level of BP puts the pt at higher risk of anesthesia and unless procedure was being done in an emergency it is rational to protect pt from heart attack, stroke etc. A DR can postpone anytime it seems that pt is at risk. Yes: Blood pressure is to high. You are not stable and the general anesthetic has potential of problems. Get blood pressure treated and controlled first.
