Remove suture.: With placement of ports or shunts, there are always sutures buried that may loosen and come to skin level. Suture should be removed and warm soaks placed on would. If purulent discharge anitbiotics needed. Occassionally shunt gets infected and then has to be replaced but only when there is fever and elevated WBC, otherwise conservative therapy used.
