Abdominal,flank: This symptom may be caused by a kidney stone or it could be a musculoskeletal discomfort especially if it's aggravated by motions of your spine. Evaluation requires a physician's examination and urinalysis and microscopic exam for starters. If deemed advisable urine culture, xrays, ultrasound or renal cat scan will be ordered.

Can't be certain: The location with the association with pain with urination makes one consider whether there is an infection along the urinary track. There are other structures there including the intestines. The side of the pelvis above the hip could suggest muscular. You need to discuss this with your physician
