A member asked:

I am wondering if you can get addicted to a product called elixinol, it is a hemp oil and coconut extract combination made up of hemp seeds and stalks?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not very likely: at least from a physical dependency point of view. Hemp oil and similar products have a lot of CBD (cannabinodiol), which actually has actions which are pretty much the opposite of THC, and are not thought to be able to produce physical dependency. However, physical dependency is not a necessary component for having addiction (better termed now a severe substance use disorder). Why the concern?
