A member asked:

I got scratched by a car it's been like a month and so and its a stray cat do you think i got rabies or cat scratch fever ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Locate the cat: Cats, dogs and ferrets are the 3 animals that we know we can monitor them for 10 days - and if they are 'fine' after a bite or a scratch, then you won't get rabies. The problem is, cats CAN be instrumental in propagating disease - so I would take this seriously. About 1 in 1000 rabies cases is from a scratch, so the odds are low - but I would still see a doc about this for more info.
