A member asked:

Im looking for information on detached cornea because mine was just removed yesterday due to being detached. but this material says it cannot happen?!

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not likely: The cornea is the transparent window at the front of the eye and does not spontaneously detach. Rarely a portion of the cornea can detach if you have had previous LASIK surgery. Are you confusing this with retinal or vitreous detachments, which can occur sometimes with cause and sometimes spontaneously? Could you have had interior corneal surgery (DSAEK) from your ophthalmologist?
