A member asked:

Which is better as regards glaucoma & prostrate enlargement in elderly - ipratropium or tiotropium?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Good questions: Ipratropium is nebulizer treatment and it is short acting (does not last longer requiring more treatments). Tiotropium is a long acting inhaler and is once a day treatment. It should not be given if it is painful glaucoma or untreated one. These two drugs does not cause prostate enlargement however they can cause retention of urine if the prostate is enlarged. Side effect is very miminal for both.
