Fluctuations in: ..hormones and other circumstances can cause minor changes in a woman's menstrual cycles. Lighter periods, early or late periods, and less cramping sometimes occur in cycles during which ovulation doesn't happen. Excessively heavy and painful periods are concerning but what you describe is not. Hope this answer helps. Dr. Anne
