Hard Differentiating: Both bipolar 2 and mdd are mood disorders and mdd is a predominant feature of bipolar disorder 2. Hypomania or minor mania with mdd is bipolar 2. A good history should help differentiate the two which is some times hard. Psychiatrists are trained to diagnose and treat. Hopefully has taken a good history and talked to your therapist before making this decision as treatment would differ greatly.

Bipolar 2 vs MDD ?: Some times it can take 10 years for people with bipolar to receive the correct medication and correct diagnoses , therefore , mood disorder questionnaire can help with the diagnoses . Discuss with u provider.
