My therapist has diagnosed me with bipolar 2. my psychiatrist says i have mdd b/c i do not have periods of time that i do not sleep?

Hard Differentiating: Both bipolar 2 and mdd are mood disorders and mdd is a predominant feature of bipolar disorder 2. Hypomania or minor mania with mdd is bipolar 2. A good history should help differentiate the two which is some times hard. Psychiatrists are trained to diagnose and treat. Hopefully has taken a good history and talked to your therapist before making this decision as treatment would differ greatly.
