No risk at all: Herpes simplex virus (HSV) is transmitted ONLY by direct genital-genital or oral-genital contact. The virus is not transmitted at all by the kind of indirect contact you mention. If you don't have sex with an infected person, you'll never get it. So choose your partners with care and have safe sex with new or possibly high risk partners. Otherwise no worries about herpes or other STDs.
