A member asked:

My 2 year old just had a chest xray and was diagnosed with bronchitis. he has no cough or other symptoms other than high fever. does this make sense?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Easy over read: Radiologists often make a suggested diagnosis based on assumptions. You only order chest xrays if you suspect a chest finding. If the xray is taken before the kid takes a deep breath,it will look like bronchitis. The suggested label from the radiologist is just that, a suggestion, they also say this needs to have clinical correlation. The doc may have just used the label to finish the visit
