Viral?: Coughing is not uncommon after a viral infection (such as a cold) and may last for weeks in some cases. If the cough is triggered by laughing or exertion, asthma needs be ruled out especially when there was a history of eczema or asthma in the mother. Post-nasal drips can cause a cough also but the lack of response to Loratadine makes it a less likely probability.
