Needs further evalua: Persistent temperature elevation in 5 yo is sign of persistent infection, viral or bacterial. Are there other symptoms such as difficulty eating, swallowing or breathing. Systemic viral infections or possible abscess formation that fails to respond to antibiotics are possible. Persistent fever in young child merits direct examination rather than internet inquiry
