Abnormal: It's not normal to have diminished hearing in one ear compared to the other. Various potential causes are wax buildup, nerve damage, bone conduction disorder, perforated ear drum or scarring from old middle ear infections. An otolaryngologist is best qualified to evaluate and advise you.
