I had my tonsils removed this past tuesday. how do i know if it's infected? one side looks greenish/yellow with blood/brown mixed in.

Most likely normal: Within 10 days after tonsillectomy a discolored eschar will occur which is often yellow or brown from clotting. Soft cool diet for 10 days is appropriate. Bleeding despite ice water gargles needs to be evaluated. Antibiotics are not generally used.
