Is my toe getting infected? my toe nail was yellow but i hit it and the nail fell off, i think it is just dried blood, but i wanted to make sure?

It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without additional history, physical examination and may be some tests. If there is not swelling, no discharge and no pain, it is not infected. If you have any of these, it warrants examination. If there is no infection the toe nail will grow back in 1-3 months. Get HPV vaccine. Wish you good health!

Yellow toenails are indicative of typically trauma and/or a fungal infection. This frequently results in the nail being loose and easily dislodged. Frequently if seen before the nail was displaced you will find that the nail is loose at the end and actually has tunneling underneath this. Nail biopsy is the only way to determine the cause. No over-the-counter treatments for this are effective.
