GYN MD needed: See if your GP MD can refer you to a GYN MD or do an ultrasound to locate the Mirena (levonorgestrel) IUD to be sure that it is inside the uterus. You can also check for the string vaginally as well as do a pregnancy test. Continued abdominal pain in spite of pain meds requires immediate MD follow up.
