Multiple causes: It could be primary hypertension. However, testing should be done to exclude renovascular hypertension due to an occluded renal artery, a pheochromocytoma or some other unusual tumor-related cause. Blood and urine tests, ultrasound/doppler tests and vascular imaging tests can clarify the underlying cause.
