A member asked:

Can you get lymphphdemia. from a maintenance i.v. in your arm where your lymph nodes have been removed after 18 years?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: You should NOT have an IV in an arm that's been adversely affected by excision of lymph nodes in the past. Maybe your doctors or nurses overlooked this fact? What it means is the microstructural architecture of your arm (the lymph channels) are affected and there could be microscopic (or macroscopic) scarring there. Definitely I want that IV out-pick another site ASAP. Arm swelling makes it urgent
