Primary care md: One of the most reliable methods is to select a primary care doc that your close friends and your family have had and vouch for the reliable and caring service they have had. One can also make a get acquainted type appointment with the md and get some sense of whether you are favorably impressed. Also your hospital can recommend md's. No md should discourage a patient who requests a second opinion
