A member asked:

Magnesium citrate tablets 2x100mg a day be as harsh on the stomach as aspirin if you already have aspirin sensitivity.? best taken on full stomach?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Whats your object?: Both acid (citrate) and basic (hydroxide) salts of magnesium are usually used as laxatives or to replace metabolic states of low plasma magnesium and also have sedating properties. I don't believe they stimulate Hydrochloric acid secretion as does aspirin. But almost anything that upsets the stomach should be taken with food, and re-evaluate why you are taking it.
