Whats your object?: Both acid (citrate) and basic (hydroxide) salts of magnesium are usually used as laxatives or to replace metabolic states of low plasma magnesium and also have sedating properties. I don't believe they stimulate Hydrochloric acid secretion as does aspirin. But almost anything that upsets the stomach should be taken with food, and re-evaluate why you are taking it.
