Burning: Burning pain usually implies nerves are involved. Most common nerve affected in the hand is the median nerve in the carpal tunnel/mid wrist. This nerve goes to most muscles of thumb and hence may explain symptoms. Also could be the digital branches of the nerves in the hand.
