More info needed: How long ago was the crown placed? It can be sore the first day or two. If it hurts that much, call your dentist.

Needs to be.....: This is not normal and needs to be evaluated by the dentist who treated you. While some temporary tightness or pressure is not unusual, severe pain is not typical. Call you dentist and have him/her see you.
