This is concerning.: Painful urination can occur for many reasons. Cystitis or bladder infections are fairly common, especially in females. Usually a bladder infection will have the symptom of dysuria ( painful to pee), frequency ( the desire to urinate more often), urgency (feels like you are going to pee your pants on the first desire to pee) and/ or urinary incontinence. Also, dysuria can be a symptom of a STI.
