A member asked:

When i chew wintergreen tabacco it hurts and appears to leave more damage to my lip does it really? is it just painful from the wintergreen in it?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

You are allergic: Probably to menthol, which is a common wintergreen flavor. This is well-known. Other people can be allergic to peppermint oil which you may meet in other chews. I hope that eventually you can stop using tobacco altogether, but i'm glad you're chewing instead of smoking; you know the dangers of both & even as teens, most-women prefer a tobacco-free man. Best wishes.
