See below: Most HPV infections will spontaneously resolve/clear within a 2-3 year period as one's own immune system "gains the upper hand." Anything which impairs or weakens one's immune system can therefore delay or inhibit the ability to clear the HPV infection. Certainly, any acute, and especially chronic, illness or medical problem, such as HIV, depending on severity, would fall into this category.
