Can a vaccine make you sick?

Vaccine side effects: What do you mean by sick? You can get reactions from your immune system that may resemble a mild illness but that is not that common.

Most Vaccines - to include COVID 19 vaccines are very safe. Local and generalized reactions may occur and last for a few days. Anaphylatic allergic reactions tend to be rare with COVID 19 vaccine..

Not uncommon to have reactions to most vaccines. But severe medical problems are very rare. It is best to overlook these reports as they represent "outliers", not typical responses. But expect soreness at injection site, and sometimes low grade temp, achiness for 24-36 hrs. The value of a vaccine far outweighs potential side effects.
