What's normal?: No, unless you are a dog who is cooled by panting - it is not. You need to try intentional breath patterns to gain some control over it. Breath in thru nose a full amount slowly. Hold it for a count of 6-8. Then blow it out through pursed lips like blowing out a candle for a long steady count of 8-10 till lungs are totally empty. Repeat 5 times. D this pattern every hour at least. Best!

Hyperventilation: Hyperventilation can be a sign that your body is overheating. You should take measures to try to cool off. Ice cold beverages throughout the day may help as well as speaking to your supervisor about the problem. You also consider contacting OSHA if you feel your health is at risk.

Dehydration: You may be dehydrated! in hot environment. Breathing that fast is not normal if resting. With heavy exertion - as run... breathing that fast may be appropriate . Anxiety can also increase rate of breathing and heart rate. Take a break to sit , drink electrolyte water, cool down. If no better or feel lightheaded , nauseous , headache- see doctor.
