Cataracts: Cataracts most commonly occur from aging, genetic issues. Diabetes, previous trauma, inflammation, steroid use, smoking, obesity (partly from increased risk of diabetes) can worsen progression or cause cataracts to develop; they are also associated with Hypoparathyroidism, Pseudohypoparathyroidism, Retinitis pigmentosa, G6PD deficiency. They can be congenital as well.
