A member asked:

When on the brink of panic attack is it better to fight it or just accept it and let it happen?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Don't fight it: Panic attacks are very scary but can be controlled. First, focus on your breathing, making sure that you control the rate of in and out over a slow count of 5 each way. As you do this, notice any muscles that feel tight and loosen them. Next, focus your thoughts on someone or something which is always pleasant to you. If you begin to notice the worries again, focus on your breathing again.
