Being researched: Food addiction is not yet recognized by the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM), but it was acknowledged in the most recent version (V). Not being an official diagnosis does not mean that the condition is not real. It simply means that research around the disorder is relatively new, and formal diagnostic criteria and risk factors have not yet been agreed upon.
