Need doctor visit: Dear StuartG, make sure you are well hydrated, dehydration can cause lightheadedness and your heart might beat faster. However, if you have cardiac risk factors, like smoking or family history of heart disease, I would consider going to the doctor for formal evaluation. I don't know of technology to take an ECG at home. I hope you feel better soon.
