Role of meds: The gabapentin does not cure any illness but may decrease intensity of pain generated by peripheral or central nerve disorder. Typically has minimal effect on musculo-ligamentous pain, and really is not helpful in presence of muscle disease. Muscle relaxants seem to work better.
