What problem: If you have gout and flare more than every few years there are medications to lower uric acid. If you just have a slightly elevated level, you probably don't need to so anything.

High uric acid: If you have a high uric acid (ua) level, you should try to reduce it. You need a 24 hour urine collection to see how much ua is in it. If you produce too much ua, you can be placed on Allopurinol to reduce the amount you make. If you do not eliminate enough ua, colchecine can be given to excrete more. If your ua is normal in your urine collection, uloric may be used to reduce your ua. See a doctor.
